DISCOVERING THE TREASURES OF UNKNOWN UMBRIA

Arrival in Sangemini, a characteristic medieval borough surely inhabited since roman times. From 2008 it is EMAS certified, a European recognition for the enviromental quality of its habitat for its citizens and for the development of tourism.
Check- in at the reserved hotel, located in the very heart of the town. The mansion was built by the noble Santacroce family in the 18th century and has been recently restored, keeping the fascination of the past.

Afterwards we begin the visit of the borough with the Church of San Francesco, situated on the homonymous square and dedicated to the saint, who seemed to have sojourned there in 1213. Then proceed on to the Palazzo Vecchio or Praetorian Palace, the symbol of the free commune of San Gemini and the Church of S. Carlo, with frescoes dating from the 14th and 16th centuries.
Short transfer to the mineral water park of Sangemini, extending for six hectars with Umbrian Mediterranean bush. Visitors can use the sporting facilities, a playground for children and the health route and mineral water treatments with San Gemini and Fabia waters. After refreshing at the park proceed on to Carsulae , a archeological park and open-air museum where visitors can admire parts of the basilica, the twin temples, the theatre, the amphiteatre, the monumental tombs and a long tract of the Via Flaminia.
Lunch at a local restaurant with tasting of typical products of the area. In the afternoon proceed on to Narni to visit the Albornoz Fortress, a classical example of a military fortress, dominating the town from the top of the hill; the Speco of Sant'Urbano, a cloister located in the middle of a wood in the cave where Saint Francis retired himself for praying and the Chiesa of Santa Pudenziana, a small treasure where visitors can admire impressive frescoes dating back to the 11th century.
Return to the hotel for dinner and overnight.

Transfer by bus to admire the Marmore's waterfalls, the highest waterfalls in Europe, artificially created by Romans and formed by the Velino River which flows into Nera river creating a three-jump drop of 531 feet.
At the end of this unforgettable experience departure for the journey back home.
